The Standard Weather briefing allows you to select a route and retrieve weather information (winds, SIGMETS and AIRMETS) along the planned route.
NOTE See Set up Your DUATS Account for information about setting up an account with a DUAT service provider.
To download a standard weather briefing:
Click the Weather tab, and select Standard Wx:Route from the DUATS Controls dialog box.
Enter the briefing options in the Standard WX: Route dialog box.
Once the information is entered, click OK.
In the DUATS Controls dialog box, click Connect.
If you created a flight plan, all of the required fields are filled in, but you can change any item if you choose.
For information about each field, see Standard Wx Route Briefing Fields.

You can view areas affected by SIGMETs and AIRMETs along your route of flight. Once you have retrieved a weather briefing from CSC DUATS or DTC DUAT, RTFP draws the boundaries of the regions that are affected by either type of advisory.
Areas affected by AIRMETs and SIGMETs in the weather briefing are graphically displayed on the Enroute Chart View as areas outlined by colored polygons.
SIGMETs display in magenta (not displaying in image below).
Turbulence AIRMETs display in red.
Icing AIRMETs display in blue.
Mountain Obscuration AIRMETs display in green.
IFR AIRMETs display in orange.
To view detailed information about the AIRMET/SIGMET, do one of the following:
Right-click the colored outline of the AIRMET/SIGMET, and select Properties.
Double-click the colored outline of the AIRMET/SIGMET.
A Note About Convective SIGMETS
Currently, RTFP does not display Convective SIGMETS on the enroute chart. After you download a standard route briefing, view the textual information in the Weather tab about Convective SIGMETS.
To view METAR tooltips after a successful route briefing, hover the pointer over the center of the airport that has a weather reporting station. It displays the original METAR notification and the plain text translation.
