After planning a route and downloading a weather briefing, you can graphically display cloud data in the Profile View.

If the weather is clear, no cloud symbols display. However, you can tell the cloud data is turned on because JIFP displays the following: WARNING--ALTITUDE OF CLOUD TOPS NOT KNOWN.
If you do not see that warning, right-click a blank area in the profile view and verify that Show Clouds is selected.
JIFP also displays symbols depicting precipitation. The clouds and precipitation symbols give qualitative indications of this type of activity, but they are not specific.

WARNING |
Do not use this display as a substitute for an approved weather briefing! You can see the weather phenomena from which the symbol was generated by hovering the mouse pointer over the symbol. |

WARNING |
These cloud depictions are based on METARs from weather stations within a specific distance. You cannot infer that the clouds and weather are as depicted away from the reporting stations. EXAMPLE: Suppose you are flying down the west side of a mountain range and the nearest METAR report is from an airport on the east side of the mountains. The weather can be clear at that airport, but clouds and precipitation can easily be along your route. |
