Downloading Weather Graphics and Overlays

The weather graphics described below are larger than text files and can take longer to download. If you are connected at higher modem speeds or have a direct Internet connection, this does not matter as much as it does at slower modem speeds.

Obtaining Weather Graphics

Weather graphics can be obtained from the following services:

NOTE The tail number entered for your aircraft must be valid to download DUATS weather graphics.

Downloading graphics from CSC DUATS and DTC DUAT

In the Pilot Information dialog box, select DUATS CSC or DUAT DTC as the provider. To obtain weather overlay maps:

  1. Click the Weather tab.

  2. In the Weather Types dialog box, select the type of weather map to download.

  1. For each selected weather map type, select the specific weather maps that you want to download, then click OK to select and close the Select Weather Maps dialog box for that type.

  1. After all the selections are made, click Connect on the Weather Types dialog box.

To automatically select all the CSC NexRad and satellite radar maps or DTC NexRad radar maps along your route, click Select Maps on Route at the bottom of the Select Weather Maps dialog box. The maps often have large areas of overlap, and auto selection might save you some download time by ignoring unnecessary maps.

By default, the downloaded weather graphics are saved on your computer at C:\Jeppesen\Common\Weather\Graphics. The images are available for three days, after which they are automatically deleted from your computer.

To change the number of days until they are removed:

  1. Click Tools > Options > Weather.

  2. Enter the number of days to save the files. If you do not want the files to be removed, enter 0.
