Use the route planning tool to edit your route after it has been created. You can use the rubber-band method on the enroute chart, reverse the route, and remove waypoints from the route.
Add a waypoint by dragging a route segment between two existing waypoints and placing it over the desired new waypoint.
In the Enroute Chart View, click and hold the left mouse button on the route line.
From anywhere along the segment of the route where you want the new stop to appear, drag to the location you want to add as the new waypoint or location.
Release the mouse button, and the new waypoint is inserted into your route.
If you release the mouse button where no waypoint is defined in the database, the Jeppesen Internet Flight Planner (JIFP) creates a route waypoint at that location and labels it WP1, WP2, and so on. On the other hand, if you release the left mouse button at a position where multiple waypoints are located (such as at an airport with a collocated VOR), a dialog box appears prompting you to select the navaid.
If you select your route on the map and then decide not to add a stop, press ESC while holding down the mouse button.
If you do not like the placement of your new waypoint, you can delete the new waypoint, zoom in to see more detail, and try again.
As discussed earlier, if you release the mouse button where no waypoint is defined in the database, JIFP creates a route waypoint at that location and labels it WP1, WP2, and so on. A route waypoint is also created if you rubberband your route to a user-defined waypoint. This allows you to delete the route waypoint if it is no longer needed other than the user-defined waypoint you may want to keep. To select the route waypoint over a user-defined waypoint:
Click the waypoint on the enroute chart.
The Select an Item dialog appears. Select the route waypoint that has route information in the Info column.
With the route waypoint selected in the Select an Item dialog box:
Click OK to select it on the enroute chart where is can be moved and deleted.
Click Info to view and modify the name, altitude (in feet), and add any comments.
Route waypoints are labeled with their latitude and longitude in the flight plan.
Once you have planned a route, you can easily reverse the waypoints of the original route to create a new route. To reverse the route, click Preflight > Reverse Route.
| TIP | To keep the original route intact, save the route before reversing it. |
To remove a waypoint from the route, perform one of the following actions:
Right-click the waypoint icon in the Enroute Chart View, and select Delete from the shortcut menu. Click Yes to confirm the deletion.
Select the waypoint in the Enroute Chart View, and press DELETE. Click Yes to confirm the deletion.
If you are removing a waypoint in an alternate route:
Deleting the alternate airport deletes all waypoints between the destination airport and the alternate airport.
If you added waypoints between the destination airport and the alternate airport, you can delete the individual waypoints.
