You can change the display in the Enroute Chart View by scrolling (moving up, down, left, right, and diagonally) or zooming (moving in or out).
To radically change locations on the chart, using the Full Zoom Out feature, which displays the default setting on the Enroute Chart View, might be easier. From this display, you can draw a zoom box to zoom in to the desired location (see instructions below).
To scroll in the Enroute Chart View, use either of the following methods:
Point to the edge (or corner) of the Enroute Charts view window. The mouse pointer turns to an arrow.
Click the left mouse button to move in that direction.
Hold the mouse button to autopan. The chart view continues scrolling until the mouse button is released.
Press the UP, DOWN, LEFT, and RIGHT ARROW keys.
Multiple ways exist to zoom in and out on the enroute chart.
The drag zoom feature enables you to zoom in by drawing a box on the Enroute Charts with a mouse.
To use the drag zoom feature:
On the chart, point to the corner of the area on which you want to zoom.
Press the mouse button, and drag the pointer diagonally to draw a box on the screen. The dimensions of the zoomed-in area appear on the sides of the zoom box until you release the mouse button.
Release the mouse button when the zoom box covers the area you want to zoom in on. The smaller the box you draw, the closer you zoom in on the chart.
On the Main toolbar, use the Zoom In and Zoom Out icons.
Zoom in or out one level by right-clicking in the Enroute Chart View and selecting Zoom In or Zoom Out from the shortcut menu. You can return to the overall view (fully zoomed out) by selecting Full Zoom Out.
Using Full Zoom Out is sometimes advantageous to begin a drag zoom to change the area you are viewing.
Click Chart > Zoom In or Chart > Zoom Out.
Press the PLUS KEY (+) and the MINUS KEY (-) on the keyboard to zoom in and out on a chart. Press and release the keys to zoom incrementally.
The bar graph appears when holding either key down. The bar moves to a larger or smaller screen width, depending on which way you are zooming. Release the key to zoom to a particular scale.
To center the Enroute Chart view on the cursor location, double-click the chart at the point you want to center on.
To center the Enroute Chart View on a navaid:
Select the navaid on the chart.
Right-click on the navaid and choose Center On.
There are three ways to center the chart on the current route:
Click Chart > Show Route.
Right-click any part of the route on the enroute chart, and select Show Route.
Press CTRL+R.
Previous View and Next View enable you to navigate through previously viewed locations and zoom levels, similar to the Back and Next buttons in a web browser. If you get lost by zooming in too close on an unfamiliar area, you can use the Previous View feature to return to the last location and zoom level.
The Previous View and Next View icons are available on the Main toolbar.
Previous
View displays the previous page in the history list.
Next
View displays the next page in the history list. Next
View becomes active after you use the Previous
View command.
The following are other ways to access the Previous and Next Views:
Right-clicking a blank area of the chart and choosing Next View or Previous View from the shortcut menu.
Pressing ALT+LEFT ARROW for the Previous View.
Pressing ALT+RIGHT ARROW for the Next View.
