Selecting a Sample Aircraft Model

The Jeppesen Internet Flight Planner (JIFP) uses aircraft models extensively throughout the program. When you select an aircraft model with accurate data, you can estimate accurate fuel usage on a particular flight, and estimate climb and descent speed. The selected aircraft model also carries over to other parts of the program automatically, such as in the NavLog and Flight Plans.

To view sample aircraft models provided by Jeppesen, and customize them to fit your own aircraft:

  1. Click Edit > Aircraft Data > Select Aircraft Data to open the Aircraft Library Manager dialog box.

  1. On the right side of the Aircraft Library Manager dialog box is a list of sample aircraft models provided by Jeppesen that reside on the server. Scroll through the list, and select an available aircraft model close to your aircraft.

  2. Click Add. The Edit Aircraft dialog box appears.

  3. Review the information in the sample aircraft, and take one of the following actions:

After the aircraft is added to your profile, you can make changes to it at any time.

NOTE The maximum number of stored aircraft models is ten.

Selecting the Default Pilot Aircraft Model

To make a specific aircraft model the default when a route is created and loaded from the server:

  1. Click Edit > Aircraft Data > Select Aircraft Data.

  2. On the left under Pilot Aircraft, scroll through the list and click the aircraft you want. You can sort the list by clicking on a column heading, and the aircraft list sorts on that column.

  3. Click Set Default to accept the aircraft. Your default aircraft displays below the aircraft selection window.

If Set Default is unavailable, the selected aircraft model is already the default.

NOTE The default aircraft is saved to a configuration file on your hard drive. If you change computers, you might want to ensure that your default aircraft is correct before planning a route.

Viewing and Editing Pilot Aircraft Model Information

If you would like to view or edit the properties of an aircraft model:

  1. Click Edit > Aircraft Data > Select Aircraft Data.

  2. Select an aircraft model and click Edit.

  3. Review the information found in Editing Aircraft Data.

It is strongly recommended that you become familiar with the procedures outlined in the help topics for Aircraft Modeling before changing aircraft properties.
