Standard Weather Route Briefing

The Standard Weather briefing allows you to select a route and retrieve weather information (clouds, winds, SIGMETS, AIRMETS, and so on) along the planned route.

NOTE See Creating a Provider Account for information about setting up an account with a DUAT service provider.

Downloading a Standard Weather Route Briefing

To download a standard weather briefing:

  1. Click the Weather tab, and select Standard Wx:Route from the Weather Types dialog box.

  2. Enter the flight information and select briefing options in the Standard WX: Route dialog box.

  3. When you have finished entering information click OK.

  4. In the Weather Types dialog box, click Connect.

If you created a flight plan, all of the required fields are filled in, but you can change any item if you choose. For information about each field, see Standard Wx Route Briefing Fields.

By default, the standard route briefings are saved on your computer at C:\Jeppesen\Common\Weather\Text. JIFP automatically removes these files on your computer after they are three days old.

To change the number of days until they are removed:

  1. Click Tools > Options > Weather.

  2. Enter the number of days to save the files. If you do not want the files to be removed, enter 0.

Importing a Previously Downloaded Weather Briefing

To view a briefing that was previously downloaded:

  1. Click Tools > Import Weather Briefing.

  2. Select the briefing you want to view. JIFP names and sorts the briefings according to the date/time you retrieved them, or you can rename them the same way you would a standard text file. You must keep the file extension as .WX for JIFP to recognize and display the information.

  1. Click Open.

The system automatically opens the Weather tab viewing area displaying the weather text information from the selected service. The weather graphics thumbnail is not affected by importing weather briefings.
