Standard Wx Route Briefing Fields

Departure Time — JIFP suggests a time. You can edit this suggestion as needed. Check the Zulu box to have JIFP convert local time to Zulu time. Ensure that the Windows Date/Time Control Panel is properly set up for your time zone. If you are traveling to a different time zone with your notebook computer, take the time difference into account; or consider changing your system time to display the correct local time.

Estimated Time Enroute — Do not use colons when entering your time enroute. For example, one hour and 30 minutes should look like 0130, not 01:30.

Aircraft Registration Number — Verify that the registration of your aircraft is accurately represented. This number defaults from the aircraft that you selected during your Route Planning process. If the tail number is not accurately entered, perform one of the following actions:

CAUTION JIFP does not complete a briefing if this field contains an invalid number.

Briefing Type — Select Plain Language to get a “decoded” briefing. When you choose plain language, also check the option for downloading FAA Weather to get Winds Aloft, AIRMETs and SIGMETs data in the Enroute Chart View. Plain language briefings tend to be very long.

Weather Advisories — Select the following options as desired:

Routing — The routing information displays from the route displayed in JIFP. If you did not complete a route or want weather information on a different route or area, complete or modify these parameters.

Route Corridor Width — The width along the route in NM for which TAFs, METARs, and similar information is returned.

Winds Corridor Width — The width in NM along the route for which wind information is returned.
