Before using Jeppesen Internet Flight Planner (JIFP) for the first time, you should familiarize yourself with the program by viewing the online tutorial, which you can access by opening the program and clicking Help > Online Tutorial (Web Site).
The following information is found in the JIFP Help file:
Setting up pilot and aircraft profiles
Detailed instructions on manipulating the Enroute Chart View and tools
Creating and editing routes
Managing your routes on the server
Connecting and downloading weather
Connecting to a GPS to upload and download routes
The intent is for you to become comfortable using the full program capabilities for safe and effective flight planning.
Context-sensitive help is available for many of JIFP's features and offers specific information about a selected item. Two types of context-sensitive help are available in JIFP:
Pressing F1 launches the help file with the appropriate context, based on the currently active object, such as a dialog box or the current view displayed.
Pressing SHIFT+F1 or clicking
Help > Context-Sensitive Help changes the pointer
display to a help pointer,
, where you can proceed to click a menu or
toolbar button for which you need help. The help document launches to
a specific topic pertaining to the object on which you clicked.
The following list describes the conventions used in the online help file:
Bold text represents commands on menus (including right-click menus), buttons, nested menu structures, and elements on a dialog box.
The greater than (>) symbol represents nested menus. For example, the image below is described as Edit > Aircraft Data > Select Aircraft.
Blue or underlined blue text links to other Help pages related to that topic, Internet websites, or e-mail addresses.
Click the bold blue text
to show additional information.
Use the browser Back button to return to previously visited topics, and the Forward button to return to the present topic after using the Back button.
The online help file includes a comprehensive index to assist in your search of interested topics. To find a topic using the index, click the Index tab at the top left of the Help file window. Type a keyword into the input area and view the results of the search.
