User-Defined Waypoints are locations you want to mark and save. The User-Defined Waypoint tool saves your information and displays it in the chart as a vector object. User-defined waypoints are not necessarily associated with a route. They can be customized with the following properties and modified at any time:
Icon
Name
Latitude and longitude
Comments
Altitude
Locked or unlocked

To set a user-defined waypoint:
Perform one of the following actions to activate the user-defined waypoint drop function:
Click Tools > Place User-Defined Waypoint.
Press CTRL+M.
The mouse pointer changes to the default waypoint symbol.
Click the chart at the desired location. JIFP displays the Waypoint Properties dialog box.
Type the Name of the waypoint. The first five letters appear as the label in the Enroute Chart View.
Add optional Comments for the waypoint.
You can modify the Latitude and Longitude to change the location of the waypoint.
Select the Lock check box if you want to prevent the waypoint from being accidentally moved to a new location.
Type in an optional Altitude (in feet) for this location.
Selecting a different icon from the list changes the icon displayed in the Enroute Charts View for this waypoint.
Click OK.
The user-defined waypoint displays on the Enroute Chart View.
To modify a user-defined waypoint:
Open the Properties dialog box by performing one of the following actions:
Right-click the waypoint on the Enroute Chart View, and click Properties.
Click Tools > Edit User-Defined Waypoints. Select the desired waypoint in the User-Defined Waypoint dialog box, and click Properties.
Change the waypoint properties as desired and click OK.
The default icon setting automatically assigns an icon to every new user-defined waypoint. Once assigned, the icon can be modified as described above. To change the default icon, perform either of the following actions:
Click Tools > Set Default User-Defined Waypoint. Select the desired icon, and click OK.
Click Tools > User-Defined Waypoints. Click Set Default Icon, and select the desired icon. Click OK and Close.
To find a user-defined waypoint quickly on the enroute chart:
Click Tools > Edit User Defined-Waypoints.
Select the waypoint you need to find.
Click Locate.
On the enroute chart, a red blinking arrow appears next to the selected waypoint.
To show or hide all user-defined waypoints:
Right-click an open area in the Enroute Chart View, and choose Properties.
Click the Chart Preferences tab.
Click the plus sign (+) to expand the Nav Data category.
Select or clear the User Waypoints check box.
Click OK.
To delete a user-defined waypoint, perform any of the following actions:
Click the waypoint in the Enroute Chart View to highlight it and press Delete.
Right-click the waypoint in the Enroute Chart View, and click Delete in the shortcut menu.
Click Tools > Edit User-Defined Waypoints. Select the waypoint, and click Delete.
If the waypoint is associated with the displayed route, a warning dialog box appears and asks for confirmation. Click Yes to delete the waypoint. If you delete a waypoint that is used in another route, the waypoint still appears as a route waypoint.
